Quadruple double, part 2

Three Phillips athletes did a lot of damage in its second-place finish at a quad meet versus rival Phillips Exeter, St. Paul's and Milton. Jack Ward (shot put and discus), Brendon Rankowitz (javelin and 100), Malcolm Mason-Rodriguez (long jump and triple jump) and Patrick Wolber (800 and 1,500) racked up points with two victories apiece.

Eight is more than enough for Brooks

Amelia Hulshult's two-run double ignited Brooks' eight-run fourth inning during a 13-4 win over St. Paul's. Lauren Bishop had an RBI single in that inning and Emma Goff added a two-run triple. Samantha Nestor threw a complete game to help Brooks improve to 1-1.

Brooks rolls to tourney

Jill Doherty and Alli Barry both scored in Brooks in its 2-0 field hockey victory over St. Paul's. Brooks finishes the regular season 13-4-1 and advances to the New England Tournament next week.

Galanos lifts Brooks

Defeensman Brendan McDonough went coast to coast for the tying goal with three minutes left and Steve Domoracki soon after added the winner as Brooks beat St. Paul's, 9-8. Nick Galanos was immense with 18 saves.

St. Paul's had bases loaded with one out but Brooks held the visitors to just one run and pulled out a 3-2 victory. Sam Nestor induced a strikeout and a force out at the plate to escape the jam. Andie Missert of Windham had a hit, a run and had a terrific game at shortstop.

Big Blue volleyball rolls

No. 2 Phillips opened the NEPSAC Class A tourney in style, pounding St. Paul's 25-11, 25-16, 25-12. Viola Rothschild notched a team-high seven kills, 18 service points and 16 digs, while Melissa Yan added 18 assists and Sarah Onrato had seven aces for the winners.

Vozzella scoring machine keeps going

Boxford's Nick Vozzella added two more goals to his season total, helping Brooks to a 3-1 wi over St. Paul's.  Vozella now has 12 goals and two assists for the Green and White, who now wait for an invitation to the Class B Prep tourney.  On defense, North Andover's Andres Burbank-Crump had another outstanding game.

First for Phillips boys

While ripping a strong St. Paul's team 20-39, the Phillips Academy boys cross country team pulled off a first in the 20 years of head coach Jon Stableford, placing six runners under 17 minutes on its 3.1-mile course. Ranat Zalov led the way with a 16:42, finishing second overall as the Big Blue took the next six places. James Hamilton of Andover was seventh in 16:58.
