The Andover boys hockey team earned its first win of the season in a big way, beating Acton-Boxboro 9-2. Evan Arpin, Leo Byers and Jackson Gress each scored twice for the Warriors.

Central Catholic threw a scare into unbeaten Acton-Boxboro (now 20-0) but fell 2-1 in the Division 1 North field hockey quarterfinals. Returning Eagle-Tribune MVP Maddie DiPietro wrapped up her brilliant career with a goal for CCHS (12-4-4).

Andover sinks A-B

 

Acton-Boxboro usually gives the Andover swim team a good test, but not this year as the Golden Warriors won all but one event in a 103-81 victory. Freshman Michaela Chokureva won the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly and was on two winning relays to lead the way for the unbeaten Warriors (11-0).

Andover falls in semis

The Andover girls tennis team's season ended in the Division 1 North semifinals with a 3-2 loss to Acton-Boxborough, the same team that beat the Warriors in the North finals last season. The doubles pairs of Annette Kim/Caroline Yang and Anna Higgins/Grace Lyons got the victories for Andover.

Knights fall in OT

After winning its opening round contest 9-8 in double-overtime, the North Andover boys lacrosse team was on the opposite side of the scoreline, dropping a quarterfinal tilt with Acton-Boxboro, 9-8, in overtime. The Knights finish the season at 12-8.

Andover snaps skid

 

 Andover's bous closed the regular season on a high note, crushing Marlboro 68-34 to snap a five-game losing streak. Kyle Rocker led the way with 22 points and Emmett Kim added 14 for the Warriors (12-8) and they combined for seven 3-pointers.

Freshman Kylie Winsor had a day to remember, scoring her first varsity goal to help the Methuen-Tewksbury girls hockey team beat Acton-Boxboro, 5-0. The win clinched the second straight MVC/DCL Large championship for the Red Rangers (16-1-1).

Steve Ingram was the star with a hat-trick as the Andover boys hockey team drubbed Acton-Boxboro, 7-0. With the win and Billerica's 1-1 tie against Central Catholic, the Warriors clinched the MVC/DCL Large champions.

Andover stuns No. 1

Junior Kate Gemmell with 1:31 left in the half and No. 8 Andover toppled top-seeded archrival Acton-Boxboro, 1-0, in the Division 1 North quarterfinals. It was Andover's first shot of the game and the Golden Warriors only attempted two shots all game. Andover played with an extra sweeper and A-B got off 11 shots and won on corners as well by an 11-4 margin. Andover's extra sweeper was sophomore Alana Miller and she came up big. The defending state champions got a big game from Alison Gasperoni, who stopped 11 shots. Carissa Agostino, Joanna Archambault and Sydney Gregory also were stars on defense.
