In what could develop into an interesting rivalry, Salem exploded for three goals in the third period to beat the Windham/Pelham, 5-3, at the Salem Holiday Tourney last night.

"It was a good, tight game," said Jaguars head coach Doug Watson. "It was close until about four minutes left to play."

The Blue Devils scored three times in the final four minutes of the game, with Josh Cavallaro scoring the game-winning goal with 36 seconds left.

Brandon Travaglini scored the first goal for Salem at the 9:24 mark in the first period and Salem scored again at the 13:11 mark of the second. Windham/Pelham's Porter Carelli scored a power-play goal in the second and Nick Morin to tie the game going into the third period.

After Salem's winning offensive explosion, Windham's Nick Morin wrapped up the night's scoring.

Windham/Pelham plays Timberlane at 6 p.m. and Salem takes on Pinkerton at 8 p.m. tonight as the tourney continues at the Icenter.
