Odds and ends: Tiffany Costa is coach Holly Costa's sister and the youngest of four soccer-playing siblings. ... Leslie McCabe missed last year with a quadriceps injury. As a sophomore she was a starter. ... Brittany and Emily Long are sisters. ... Assistant coach Jen Jaquith is the new gym teacher at the middle school. She was Deerfield's JV coach the last two years, was JV coach at Concord for six years and was a JV coach in Massachusetts for two years. ... Goalie coach Carmelo Diaz is freshman Brianna Diaz's father.
Coach Holly Costa (4th year, 4-44): "It's a young group, but they are hard-working. We had two scrimmages and we played decent against Salem and Sanborn. I see a lot of potential. One thing different from previous years is we have quite a few shooters like Page Maloney and Alex McKinney and newcomers like Brianna Diaz."
