It ended | and it ended emphatically.
The defending Division 1 state championship St. John's Prep soccer team saw their 37-game unbeaten streak come to an end yesterday as host St. John's of Shrewsbury scored five first-half goals and blasted the Eagles, 6-1.
"They did a good job capatilizing on their chances | and we couldn't do the same," said St. John's Prep head coach Dave Crowell.
The Eagles (7-1-6) were outshot, 15-9, and found themselves trailing 5-0 at halftime. They finally got on the scoreboard when Brett McLarney scored three minutes into the second half off an Owen Fox pass.
"It was just one of those games," summarized Crowell.
