Bobby Tarr provided another adding-machine effort, scoring four touchdowns and picking up 287 yards on 25 carries as Bishop Fenwick ended a two-game losing skid in a 27-12 victory over host Central Falls, R.I.

Tarr, who now has 14 TDs in a 3-2 season, tallied on runs of one, six, 19 and 78 yards as the Crusaders avoided their first three-game losing streak since the start of the 2003 season.

Antonio Mena, a Central Falls receiver, twice made fumble recoveries in the end zone to account for both TDs, including the opening TD.

Dave Woods, the Fenwick coach, said Mena's first TD (the fumble was kicked into the end zone) wouldn't have counted because a team can't advance a fumble on fourth down in Massachusetts, but Rhode Island plays under National Federation rules, not NCAA rules.

QB John Baker was 5-for-5 passing for 36 yards, outside linebacker Anthony Pisani had eight tackles to lead the Fenwick defense and Brendan Barrett toed three PATs before suffering a concussion.

"Bobby had a great game, but it would have been nice if we didn't have to give it to him 25 times," Woods said.

"We didn't talk about the losing streak. We our motivation was to improve on the last two games and I'm not sure we did."

Fenwick will play at unbeaten Swampscott on Saturday, Oct. 13.
