HAVERHILL | After three straight losses, Craig Eaton and the senior class had a message for the rest of the Whittier Tech football team.
"We got them together and said we are sick of losing," said Eaton. "We said that we had to attack and we had to win this one."
And attack the Wildcats did. Whittier was successful on a pair of two-point conversion attempts while halting their opponents on all three point-after tries, and that proved to be the difference in a 22-18 win over Chelsea yesterday afternoon.
It was Eaton that tallied the two conversions, both runs up the middle, after their first two touchdowns. The Wildcats traditionally do not kick extra points.
The rest of the game was controlled by Whittier's trademark running game, which grinded out 264 yards as a team.
Bryan Trickett was once again the man for the Wildcats. The speedster finished the game with 15 carries for 111 yards and the 2-yard touchdown run that proved to be the game-winner. The junior, whose two brothers played football at Pentucket, now has 619 yards on 81 carries for the season.
