Pinkerton's softball team continued its turnaround season with a huge 5-3 win over archrival Londonderry. The Astros, now 9-2, rapped out 10 hits led by red-hot Shannon Doherty, and received a sparkling two-hitter from Cara Chooljian, who gave up just one earned run. Doherty, who is hitting over .400, was 2 for 2 with a solo home run in the sixth and had two RBIs and two runs scored.
"This was definitely the biggest win of the year," said Pinkerton coach Terry Bailey, whose club was 5-14 last year. "We're getting good consistency in the batting order."
Danielle Crutcher had a solo home run for Londonderry (9-2), which had been tied for first in Class L play.
