NASHUA | After the previous two weeks, no one could blame Salem's Chris Sousa for being extra happy.

"It's good to get this one out of the way," said the linebacker. "We needed a win to keep pace in Division 1 and to get above .500. We finally got that big win, and now we have to take a bigger step."

After a pair of tough losses to Londonderry and archrival Pinkerton in the last two weeks, the Blue Devils found their groove yesterday in pummeling Nashua North 35-0. "We finally put things together today," said quarterback/defensive back Hal Landers, who rushed for a score. "The last two weeks, we were struggling with mistakes, but today we executed."

And execute they did. Salem used its running game to dominate to the tune of 343 yards on 49 carries. Of those yards, 197 came in the first half as Salem jumped out to a 21-0 lead.

Kevin Sledge led the way for the Blue Devils, rushing 14 times for 136 yards and a pair of 3-yard touchdowns. Backfield mate Shane McMahon wasn't far behind, rushing for 119 yards on only 11 carries, and he rushed for two 2-yard touchdowns. Both played only 1<1/2> possessions in the second half.
