Rachel Mattison took first in the bars (9.1), floor (9.4), and all-around (35.8) as the Andover girls gymnastics team topped Tewksbury 139.7-83.4 in their first home meet of the year, but the real story of the night took place far from all the action of the contest.

In a ceremony prior to start of the meet, the team, now 2-0, dedicated the 2008-09 season to Andover alum and former gymnast and diver Kristin Kearins. Kearins, affectionately referred to by friends and family as "Krit," tragically passed away due to injuries sustained in a Sept. 2008 bike accident at the age of 26. Kristin's mother, Pam, and two sisters, Mia and Kasey, were on hand for the dedication. The Golden Warriors wore special ribbons bearing Kristin's initials that were made by another Andover High alum.
