GOFFSTOWN — Timberlane was not only out to finish a disappointing season on a high note, but to also play the spoiler role.

The Owls did both yesterday.

C.J. Dupuis caught a fourth-down, 5-yard touchdown pass from Erik Hatton with 3:43 to play and Drew Smith's extra point proved to be the difference in a 21-20 win at Goffstown.

The Owls (4-6, 4-5 Division 2) overcame a 20-7 deficit to foil Goffstown's playoff chances.

"I am very proud at how this team came back against a good football team," said Timberlane head coach Mike Pariseau.

"We have gone through a couple of tough losses and, if it wasn't for three or four plays during the season, we might be playing to get in (to the playoffs)."

The Owls rode the momentum of backs James Dionne (two touchdowns) and Derek Furey (game-best 123 yards) to mount their comeback. The duo both eclipsed the 1,000 yard mark for the season, marking the first time that Pariseau has coached a pair of 1,000-yard rushers in the same season.

"They are as fine a tandem on the football field as I have ever coached," said Pariseau.

The winning score was set up when Timberlane stopped Goffstown on a fourth down at the Owl 30 after Jordan Reagan, Max Zdrada and Jack Fearon all burst through line to sack the Goffstown quarterback with 7:30 to play.

After taking the lead, the Owls recovered a fumble at the Goffstown 18 and ran out the clock with the clincher being Furey's nine-yard run on fourth-and-eight.
