FRANKLIN | It was never much of a contest as Pelham blanked Franklin, 48-0 yesterday. The victorious Pythons (3-0) used a plethora of running backs en route to the decisive win in New Hampshire Division 5 action.

"All of the running backs did well which is a direct result of great work from our offensive line," said Pelham head coach Tom Babaian.

Pelham led 28-0 after the first quarter and 40-0 at halftime before putting it into cruise control in the second half and letting everyone get some playing time.

Junior running back Bruce Viera (19 rushes, 91 yards) led the way for the Pythons with a pair of rushing touchdowns and a two-point conversion. Sophomore back Josh Luciano scored a touchdown and two-point conversion. Finally, sophomore fullback Conor McColgan added a rushing TD.

In the passing game, Pelham sophomore quarterback Joe DeAngelo had a rushing touchdown and was 4-for-5 passing for 75 yards and a touchdown. Junior tight end Wayne Parisi made three catches for a team-high 55 yards and he also scored a two-point conversion.

On the defensive side of the ball, freshman linebacker Mike Lombard turned in the play of the game as he returned an interception 50 yards for a score.

"Junior defensive lineman Dave Wesson played very well, he was in on a bunch of stops," noted Babaian.

Pelham will look to continue its winning ways as it takes on Newfound Friday night in Pelham.
