LONDONDERRY, N.H. | Just after the opening kickoff last night, a Londonderry fan could be heard bellowing for the Lancers to, "Throw the football."
Once again, there was no need.
Behind a running game that accumulated a whopping 394 yards as a team, Londonderry followed up its huge upset over Salem a week ago with a 39-0 drubbing of Manchester Memorial.
"This was a big win for us," said offensive lineman Kevin Handy. "After we beat (Manchester) Central in Week 1, we came out flat against (Manchester) West the next week. At first we were a little light in practice (after the Salem game), so we were concerned. But come Wednesday we kicked it up."
Once again, it was the Alex Theodhosi show for the Lancers. After rushing for 250 yards a week ago, Theodhosi (4 TDs) bested himself against Memorial, going for 278 yards on 25 rushes, giving him 813 yards for the season. It was also his third game with more than 200 yards this season.
Theodhosi struck early and often. He accumulated 147 yards and two scores in the first quarter alone, and finished the first half with 21 carries for 236 yards. He carried the ball only four times in the second half before he and most of the starters left the game midway through the third quarter.
