EVERETT — No. 8 Andover fell behind early, and could not recover in a 41-14 loss to top-seeded Everett in the Division 1 North first round on Friday. It was a rematch of the 2016 Division 1 North final.

"We had a good first drive and it looked like we might be able to play with them," said Golden Warriors head coach E.J. Perry. "But it's hard to deal with their speed on the edge and over the top. They are a very talented team."

Everett scored on its first six possessions to take a 41-0 lead in the second quarter.

Andover got on the board late in the second on a 27-yard pass from QB Victor Harrington to running back Tommy Duncan.

The Golden Warriors' other score came in the fourth, on a 16-yard TD from backup QB Mark Bentley to receiver Brendon Moody.

Andover now moves into the non-playoff bracket, while Everett will host Central Catholic on Friday (7 p.m.)

"The kids played hard, but we just couldn't match their speed," said Perry. "Now we have to take care of business in the next few weeks so we are in good position for Thanksgiving."
