FITCHBURG — Lowell won the boys' title at the All-State meet and some MVC rivals had some stellar performances.
Andover senior Matt McDermott won the discus with a 169-1 toss, just 11 inches off his area record. Teammate Alec Pascoe again starred with a sixth in the 110 hurdles and a fifth in the 400 hurdles.

Pascoe nipped another talented area junior, Central's Greg Desrosiers, who was sixth in the 400 hurdles in 55.63. Earlier in the week he was second in the pentathlon. Central's Ryan Burns had a career best 51.1-2.5 for fourth in the shot put.
Andover's Devin Connell ran a season best 1:55.71 for third in the 800 and Golden Warrior Michael Rushton was fifth in the pole vault (12-9).

North Andover's Andy Robie equalled his area best 6-6 to tie for eighth in the high jump. Haverhill juniro Sean Glass was eighth in the 200 meters in 22.28.
