With starter Zander Willis in foul trouble, sophomore Jake Etter came off the bench and drilled three 3s in the fourth quarter to help No. 6 Pentucket beat No. 3 Hamilton-Wenham, 57-53 in the Division 3 North quarterfinals.
Etter finished with 11 points, behind teammate Gus Flaherty's team-high 19 points on five 3's.
Trailing by 13 after the first quarter, the Sachems (16-6) outscored their opponents 23-4 in the second to take a 28-22 lead into the half.
Etter's outburst in the fourth helped Pentucket open a lead in the final frame, but missed free throws allowed Hamilton-Wenham (18-4) to cut the lead to just three with under a minute to go.
The Sachems would hold on though, and will play No. 7 Watertown in the semifinals. A date and location is still TBA.
