NORTH READING — In what Hamilton-Wenham coach Andrew Morency called "a game of two halves," North Reading fell on the short end of a physical 15-7 Cape Ann League battle.

"They really had control of the game in the first half, but I thought we took over in the second half," said Morency, whose club improved to 4-2.

North Reading drove the ball effectively in the scoreless first half, but could not find the scoreboard with one drive halted on the H-W 12-yard line.

The Generals scored first on a safety in the third quarter when a North Reading punt was blocked into and out of the end zone and then made it 9-0 on a 26-yard run by Casey Collier.

North Reading (3-3) cut the gap on the ensuing kickoff when Darren Hartwell returned the kickoff 75 yards for a score. But a Jeff McLean 2-yard run later in the quarter sealed the win.

Quarterback Andy Duval had a solid game for the Generals, completing 8 of 11 passes for 113 yards and rushing for 30 yards. Collier rushed for 91 yards.
