NEWBURYPORT — Pentucket football held a 13-7 lead going into the fourth quarter, but the Sachems couldn't stop Newburyport's Myles Maloof in the final frame, as the standout running back scored twice to lead the Clippers to a 21-13 victory.

Maloof gave Newburyport the lead with a 6-yard rush and then later broke free for a 36-yard score to put the game away. He finished with 110 yards rushing on 17 carries.

Pentucket took an early 7-0 lead after Nathan McGrail hauled in a 29-yard touchdown pass from Gus Flaherty in the first quarter. Newburyport tied it at 7-7 shortly before halftime on a 28-yard run by Donte Harmon, but McGrail and Flaherty connected again for a 21-yard touchdown in the third quarter to retake the lead.

Flaherty finished 17-24 passing with 212 yards, and McGrail had eight catches for 132 yards receiving.

Pentucket is now 1-5 on the season, while Newburyport improves to 3-2.
