GEORGETOWN - Working with what it had, Georgetown football put up a fight on Friday night against Greater Lawrence.

But the dynamic Reggie offense had every answer.

In a game that featured a number of stoppages for flags, injuries and changes of possession, the Royals fell 49-21 in a slugfest at Georgetown High School in the first round of the MIAA Divison 7 playoffs.

Right at the onset, the Royals (3-5) faced some adversity.

Quarterback Tommy Long got hit hard on the team's first drive and tried to stay in the game but couldn't, then Anthony D'Amato was hurt on the next Reggie (5-3) drive.

While their appointed arms were down, the home team turned to others.

Running back Zach Beauvais got the Royals on the board with a 15-yard toss to Hunter Lane in the first quarter on a halfback pass on fourth down after Long left the game. The play made it 6-0 at the time.

Then, just before halftime, Colin Dow tossed a 5-yard score to Cody Melo to make it 20-14 at the break after backup quarterback Stephen Macdonald had to leave for a play.

In between those scores, Macdonald held the fort and moved the football all evening. He finished the night 14-of-29 for 153 yards.

The Reggies, meanwhile, took the lead on a 3-yard Ader Mezidor score to make it 7-6 early on and then he built on it with a 20-yard rush later in the first.

To round out their scoring and make it 20-6 early in the second, quarterback Marc Travers found Ronaldo Arias for a 23-yard touchdown.

After that play though, the Royals defense held, forcing a turnover on downs and a three-and-out before the break and went into the locker room down 20-13.

After half, it was all Reggies for the most part as they came out strong with a 23-yard strike from Travers to Arias.

Then, the second head of the Reggies two-pronged attack, David White, rumbled 36 yards to make it 42-13 early in the third quarter.

They'd add another on a short Mezidor score.

Zach Beauvais then brought the Royals closer early in the fourth with a 2-yard score to make it 49-21 where it'd stay.

Hunter Lane also had six catches for 111 yards and a score in the effort.

For the Reggies, Travers threw for 106 yards, 90 of those to Arias. On the ground, Mezidor had 87 yards and three scores while White had 138 yards and one touchdown.
