Brooks smothers Lawrence Academy

NORTH ANDOVER — Nothing was going to stop Brooks’ fantastic run on the football field Saturday afternoon.

Behind another strong defensive performance, Brooks smothered a previously 6-1 Lawrence Academy team 26-0 at home.

Brooks (7-1) hasn’t allowed a point in nine straight quarters.

“Lawrence is a fantastic team so to shut out a team like that took an incredible effort from our entire defense,” said Brooks coach Pat Foley. “We came up with some big turnovers that really helped us out.”

It was another big day for Penn State recruit Pat Freiermuth. Besides wrecking havoc on defense, he led the team with 69 yards on five carries, and also had 86 yards on four receptions.

The only thing Freiermuth didn’t do was score, but his teammates picked him up in that category.

“We were able to get Pat involved in different ways today,” said Foley. “And usually when he touches the ball good things happen.”

Brooks also got a good performance from quarterback Seamus Lambert, who went 9 of 14 passing for 120 yards and two touchdowns.

Lambert hit Terrell Brown on a 6-yard pass in the second quarter to start the scoring, then found Will Gibeley with a 20-yard strike in the fourth to put the game out of reach. Jaylen Cromwell added a 5-yard TD run in the third quarter.

North Andover’s Owen Rosenberger also had a great game defensively, and Kyle Neyman was credited with adding a handful of tackles.

Brooks will more than likely make a Bowl Game, but those will not be announced until Sunday morning.
