MERRIMACK — Merrimack handed Salem its first loss 39-20.
The host Tomahawks, who are also 4-1, took a 14-7 lead in the first and extended it to 21-7 at the break.
Josh Sibanda scored all three touchdowns, one a 12-yard run, another a 72-yard and alo a 35-yard pass from Matt Soldano.
Salem coach Rob Pike came away impressed with Merrimack's ace quarterback Justin Grassini (28-41, 458 yards, 3 TDs)
"He's really good," said Pike. "He gets rid of the ball quickly and he's really very accurate. And he's a good athlete. He can run, too. He's a real good one and the guys he's throwing to are pretty great."
Defensively, Pike praised lineback Adam Maroun (sack), free safey James LeBlond (another interception), and end Ben Emerson.
