CHELMSFORD — Peter Kwakye didn't get much credit but he was the start of the game.

His jersey was ripped so he wore a teammate's jersey in Methuen's 20-15 win over Chelmsford in a non-playoff game yesterday afternoon (3 p.m. kickoff). The final score was a bit misleading as the hosts scored on the final play of the game.

Kwakye, a junior who was misidentified throughout the game, scored on an 85-yard kickoff return late in the first quarter and caught a 21-yard TD pass from Jordan Perdomo midway through the second quarter.

Methuen opened the scoring five minutes into the game on a 41-yard reverse pass from David Kelly to the QB Perdomo. Kelly had filled in for Perdomo when he was injured earlier in the year.

Defensive back Joey Hutnick had a fourth-quarter interception and recovered a fumble. Manny Moore had a fumble recovery and tackle Dante James had three tackles for a loss.

"The defense was awesome all night," said Rangers coach Tom Ryan.

Methuen, 5-5, can finish with a winning record with a win over Dracut on Thanksgiving. Kickoff is 10 a.m. in Methuen.
