NORTH READING — Matt McCarthy scored on runs of 75 and 34 yards and Masconomet missed a game-tying PAT in the waning seconds as North Reading pulled off the shocker, 14-13.

McCarthy had scored go-ahead with 1:25 left but there was still a lot of football to play. Paul Baker made things interesting on his late 10-yard TD run.

North Reading improved to 4-0 but you'd be hardpressed to find any of the "so-called" experts who picked the Hornets.

Perennial power Masco, who plays a brutal non-league schedule, dropped to 2-2.
