NORTH READING — Matt McCarthy rushed for two second half touchdowns to help North Reading come back to beat Triton 14-7 on Friday night, scoring the game-winner with less than two minutes to play.
Triton took a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter after quarterback Lewi L'Heureux broke free for an 89-yard touchdown run.
The score remained the same until the third quarter, when McCarthy scored on a four-yard run with 8:14 to play to tie the game at 7-7.
Then with 1:39 to play in the fourth, McCarthy scored again, this time from 2 yards out to clinch the win for the Hornets.
North Reading is now 5-1 and will wrap up the regular season at home against Newburyport next Friday at 7 p.m.
