It didn't take long for Greater Lawrence to hijack the postseason's first upset.

With Jeremy Torres continuing his late-season rampage, the seventh-seeded Reggies went on the Division 5 playoff road to down second-seeded and previously unbeaten Brighton last night 22-12.

"We just keep surprising people, and I hope they continue to (doubt) us," Greater Lawrence coach Tony Sarkis said. "The kids really played tough."

And Torres led the way.

One week after rushing for a career-high 235 yards, the senior upped the mark last night, rushing for 252 yards and accounting for 78 percent of the team's 323 total yards.

"These kids just keep building their motivation, and that's a huge thing," Sarkis said.

Torres provided a 20-0 halftime lead with scoring runs of 9, 8 and 82 yards. Quarterback Angel Martin added a conversion run.

After watching Brighton (7-1) claw its way back into the decision,  Edgardo Garcia sealed Greater Lawrence's victory with a sack in the end zone with 1:36 remaining.

Next up for the Reggies will be a semifinal showdown on the road with the winner of today's match between third-seeded Whittier and sixth-seeded St. Mary's
