MERRIMACK - Charles Sibanda rushed for 146 yards and scored three times as Salem improved to 6-1 by thrashing Merrimack 28-0 Friday night.
"Charles has been great all year for us," said Blue Devils coach Rob Pike.
Sibanda now has 13 TDs on the season.
James Leblond capped the scoring on a 44-yard run in the fourth quarter and Chris Sheikabdou was 4 for 4 on PATs.
Pike raved about his line play with guard Pat Hughes and tight end Austin Homsey helping open some gaping holes.
Teams will eventually learn to stay away from Calabrese Island. Kenny Calabrese, who is probably the area leader in interceptions, added another one. Inside linebacker Doug Maroun and end Sean Nartiff piled up the tackles.
The Salem-Londonderry game is one people have been talking about for weeks but the Blue Devils have work to do first. They'll be at Nashua North Friday at 7 p.m.
