Deerfield — Not accustomed to playing on real grass, Phillips Academy ventured to Deerfield Academy on Saturday and still put a beating on. Phillips came away with a 45-12 victory and remains unbeaten at 6-0 on the season.
Phillips' Ian Maag had a tremendous game, completing 11-14 passes for 172 yards and two scores. "Ian had terrific touch on the ball and made great decisions," said head coach Leon Modeste.
The Big Blue was able to run the ball effectively throughout the game. If Deerfield put a bunch of guys in the box, Phillips was able to spread out and throw it.
Phillips’ defense continued its season of dominance. Brandon Michel picked off a pass and took it 35 yards to the house. Michel also caught two touchdowns on offense. “The defense did what it’s done all year and stopped the ball and got it back to the offense,” said Modeste.
Up next for Phillips is a home matchup with Worcester Academy next Saturday.
