Pentucket struggled with turnovers on its way to a 62-50 loss to Timberlane in the Haverhill Christmas Classic.
The Sachems trailed by as many as 26 at one point, as Owls marksman Drew Smith hit for a game-high 26 points, including a trio of 3-pointers.
"We needed that kind of performance from Drew (Smith)," said Timberlane coach Paul Cardone. "We really used our defense to transition into our offense well tonight, which is something we had not been doing too well in our previous games."
Despite struggling with foul problems, Liam Crawford led the Sachems with 14 points. Jordan Silva added 11 points, all in the second half.
"We dug ourselves a hole in the first half by playing poor defense, and compounded that with a lot of turnovers," said Sachems coach Leo Parent. "We will win no games this year if we give up 62 points."
