Odds and ends: Ben Proulx's father, Dave, played on the Leo Parent/Bobby Licare-led Central Catholic teams of the early 1980s. The younger Proulx was an honorable mention All-Division 1 football player. ... Pinkerton has struggled through back-to-back 8-14 seasons without a tourney win. ... Zach Mathieu is a 6-foot-6 pitcher/catcher with considerable baseball potential. ... Point guard Colby Verge returns after a year off due to a knee injury. He looked healthy this fall, earning honorable mention All-Division 1 honors as a defensive back for the champion Astros.

Coach Peter Rosinski (6th year, 44-66): "I'm looking forward to watching these guys develop. Both King and Mathieu, as time goes on, could develop into terrors. Ben Proulx has been a pleasant surprise. He and Mathieu will start. Beau can fill it up. I think we can compete. Colby Verge has shown so much heart, missing last year with ACL surgery. For the first time in my tenure, we're big up front."
