Newburyport, Pentucket prepare for tournament on turf

In preparation for the state tournament Newburyport and Pentucket met up at the New England Soccer School in Amesbury to do some training and scrimmaging on the turf surface.

The Clippers had not played since last Friday, and after working on some technical training for an hour, they finally got a chance to get back in the game mind set with a scrimmage against their familiar rivals.

Pentucket shuts down Ipswich

Pentucket ties Lynnfield

Pentucket couldn't hold on to a two-goal halftime lead as it tied Lynnfield, 2-2. The Sachems' (4-5-1) midfield was the story with Hillary Biggs netting a goal and an assist, while Sarah Selig was strong defensively.

Dillon strikes twice in big Pentucket win

Meaghan Dillon scored twice as Pentucket cruised past Manchester Essex 6-0. K.C. Jones, Hillary Biggs, Caila Aylward and Sarah Selig all scored for the Sachems (4-4), and Heather Thomas made seven saves to earn the clean sheet.

North Andover defeats Pentucket

Since losing to Masconomet 1-0 Sept. 17, North Andover has scored 11 times and given up zero goals in three straight wins, including yesterday's 3-0 victory over Pentucket. Danielle Quinlan was the offensive star of the game with two goals and an assist, while both Rebecca Baker and Bri Connolly both had strong games on defense.

Triton blanks Pentucket

Rachel Bourque scored a pair of goals to lead Triton over Pentucket 2-0. Kaitlin Muller and Tori Clay added assists for the Vikings. Rebecca Schmidt and Kristi Davis played well on defense to help shut down Pentucket. Heather Thomas played well in net for the Sachems, making six saves.

Newburyport girls record another shutout

For a Newburyport girls soccer team that is 41-4-5 since 2005, wins that garner trophies are no longer cause for celebration.

Such was the case for the Clippers yesterday after they claimed their third consecutive ALS Cup with a 2-0 victory over Pentucket.
