WORCESTER — Led by a stellar second half by Salem’s George Smith, top-seeded Brooks cut an 18-point second-half deficit to just four points, closing in a dramatic title game comeback.

Brooks beat St. Luke's, 71-58, to move on to the NEPSAC Class B title game for the sixth time in the last eight seasons. George Smith from Salem led the victors with 22 points while Myles Foster had 14 and Darrel Yepdo added nine. No. 1 Brooks will take on No. 2 Canterbury of New Milford, Connecticut, today (Sunday) at 5 p.m. at Worcester State. Brooks beat Canterbury 67-54 on Jan. 8.

Brooks rolled past Governor's, 75-53, to advance to the NEPSAC semifinals for the ninth year in a row. Myles Foster (22), Sam Thomson (15) and Darrel Yepdo (18) cracked double figures in the win,  Coach John McVeigh's squad will take on St. Luke's Saturday in the Class B semis.

Darrel Yepdo sank four 3-pointers and former Central standout George Smith had three as Brooks whipped St. Mark's 87-57.  Brooks (21-2) had 11 trifectas overall.

Tyler Whitney-Sidney returned from an injury that sidelined him a month and scored 16 points to help Brooks take down Thayer, 81-61. Junior guard Matt Mulvey led the way for Brooks with a career-high 25 points.

The top-ranked Brooks boys basketball team made a major statement against Rivers, the No. 2 team in the ISL standings, winning in a 72-49 blowout. Salem's George Smith tied his season with 24 points for Brooks (18-2), which led Rivers (17-4) by 19 at the half.

Salem's George Smith, who is repeating his junior year at Brooks, scored his 1,000th career point in Saturday's 58-42 win over Milton Academy. The guard, who spent the last three years at Central Catholic, finished with 9 points.

George Smith had four 3-pointers and 18 points to pace Brooks (15-2) in a 65-57 win over a strong Middlesex club.

Despite getting 17 points and 12 rebounds from senior Sam Thomson, the Brooks boys basketball team fell to St. Sebastian, 84-71. According to coach John McVeigh, the loss snapped Brooks' 94-game winning streak in the ISL dating back to February of 2014.

Salem's George Smith scored a game-high 24 points to earn MVP honors as Brooks rolled past Beaver Country Day 77-51 to win the Patrick J. Harrington Classic. Myles Foster added 17 points and 11 rebounds for Brooks (10-1), which dealt Beaver Country its fourth loss of the season (10-4).
