Haverhill rallied from three goals down to beat Pentucket 5-4 in the first round of the Newburyport Bank Classic. Evan Jeffries scored two goals for the Hillies, while Richie Hardy and Josh Smith each scored twice for the Sachems.

Brady Ferreira scored two goals and assisted two others to lead Haverhill hockey to a 6-3 win over Dracut/Tyngsboro. Cole Farmer also scored twice for the Hillies.

Jonathan Scott rolled impressive games of 135 and 132, Colby Wong added a 176 and 153 and Lance Lemieux tallied a 169 and 179 to lead Pinkerton bowling against Stevens and Souhegan.  

HAVERHILL — Thomas Doherty was frustrated.

He knew, as the puck rang off the post, that he had just missed the second goal of his varsity career.

“I hit that post and I knew I missed an easy goal,” said the junior. “So I had to get the puck back. My teammates got it back to me, and I didn’t miss that time.”

Evan Foskett scored twice and both Charlie Rastauskas and Brady Ferreira had a goal and two assists to lead Haverhill to a 7-3 win over St. Joseph's.

NORTH ANDOVER — In the moment, North Andover goalie Patrick Green couldn’t remember the last time he faced a penalty shot in game action.

When called upon Saturday, however, he was more than up to the task.

Tourney MVP Zach Roughan made 29 saves for the shutout as Haverhill rolled past Shawsheen 4-0 in the Hillies Hockey Christmas Tournament championship game. Brendan Fitzgerald scored two goals for the Hillies, who have won three straight.

Haverhill's hockey team won its second straight game, 7-2 over Westboro in an opening round game of the Haverhill Tournament. Seven different players scored for the Hillies, who will play Shawsheen in the finals at 7 p.m. Friday.

Haverhill's hockey team wion its first game of the season, clipping Concord-Carlisle 5-2. Evan Foskett and Brady Ferreira both scored twice for the Hillies (1-1) and Zach Roughan had 31 saves.
