Chelsea Red Devils Football '08

Whittier, Chelsea

CHELSEA — Whittier’s defense came up with two key stops in the second quarter and the offense scored early in each half for a 14-0 win over Chelsea.
The Wildcats held the Red Devils to just 48 yards, including no yards through the air as the hosts were 0-for-12 passing.
“Our defense did a great job tonight,” said Whittier head coach Kevin Bradley.
Don Leighton intercepted two passes, including one in the end zone.
Later in the second quarter, Whittier’s Nate Allen and Frank Muraco combined to stop an airborne Chelsea runner at the 2-inch line.
Whittier opened the scoring on the first series of the game when Brian Trickett scored on a 41-yard rush.
In the third quarter, Damian Colman was on the receiving end of a 68-yard touchdown pass from Dillon Ryan.
Trickett finished with 108 yards and Tyler Page added 106.
“They were a great inside-outside combination tonight,” said Bradley. “It was tough for Chelsea to key on one because the other one can take off at anytime. We went against a very stingy defense (only nine points allowed, per game). They were aggressive but we answered.”
Whittier (4-1) hosts Manchester Essex next Saturday at 2 p.m.
