Royals can't get going

CHELMSFORD — A late run by Lowell Catholic was too much for Georgetown to overcome, as miscues from the Royals stalled any comeback bid in Friday's 22-2 loss.
A late 60-yard bomb from Crusaders quarterback Peter Sawyer sealed the fate of the Royals, who fumbled the subsequent kickoff, allowing Lowell Catholic to score again with under two minutes left.
The offense for Georgetown came from the special teams unit following a Crusaders touchdown.
With 20 seconds remaining in the first half, Sawyer ran it in from the two for the score, and that's when things got interesting for the Royals. As the Crusaders lined up to kick, sophomore Matt Armata scooped up the loose football following a block. He ran it down the sideline for the score, and cut the deficit to 6-2.
The Visitors did see a strong performance from Zach Beauvais, who rushed for 26 yards on eight carries. Long went 4-6 with 50 yards while rushing for 16.
The Royals will have a chance to rebound next week when they host Lynn Tech.
