Martinez leads Salem to huge win over Lawrence

SALEM, N.H. — Forget the rain, forget the cold and forget that he was covered, head to toe, in a thick layer of mud. Jason Martinez was the happiest man in the state of New Hampshire last night.

Missed oppertunities doom Lawrence

LAWRENCE — For most of three quarters, Lawrence withstood every punch Chelmsford threw and remained within striking distance, cutting the deficit to six points in the third.

But a pair of golden opportunities both ended up as turnovers on downs, and the Lions took control, besting the Lancers 47-27 last night.

Andover revs it up, dusts Lawrence

ANDOVER — Andover High football coach E.J. Perry has issued the ultimatum.
Jobs for 2014 will be won or lost here in November of 2013.
"Coach told us he will find the players, the guys who want to go hard, who want to win," said junior Chris Nicholas after Andover opened its non-playoff November with a 39-10 thumping of Lawrence. "It was tough not making the playoffs, and we just wanted to come out and prove we're a talented team. This is the time to get ready for next year."
If Nicholas' night is a harbinger of future Warrior Friday nights, things are most certainly looking up.
The 6-foot, 160-pound junior caught 5 passes for 112 yards and a pair of TDs.
With his two QBs splitting time between the signal caller spot and receiver, coach Perry saw his offense run efficiently with little resistance from the Lancers, who tumbled to 2-6.
E.J. Perry IV went 7 of 8 for 146 yards and three TDs through the year, while Oliver Eberth completed 10 of 15 for 96 more yards and score.
EJ4 caught a 21-yard TD toss from Eberth, who was on the receiving end of a TD connection from the frosh, too.
Meanwhile, the Warrior defense did just enough.
He-man Omel Bonilla clogged the inside running game all night, while captain Ben Hartford pierced the Lancers for three sacks. On the back end, Nicholas picked off a pair of Lancer passes.
Andover heads to Peabody on Friday night for a date with Tanner defensive coordinator — and former Warrior assistant — Dave Bettencourt. Lawrence will host Chelmsford, Thursday night at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
