North Andover stayed with Newton South until the final minutes and fell on the short end of a 2-0 decision, in the preliminary round of the Division 1 North Tourney. Caitlin Enright made 11 saves to keep North Andover in the game.

Senior captain Erika Zahoruiko scored off a free kick from yards out with eight minutes left and North Andover held on to stun previously unbeaten Masconomet 1-0.

The Chieftains, who dropped to 15-1-1, are ranked No. 2 in all of Eastern Mass.

Alana Houlihan scored her first goal of the season in North Andovergirls soccer's 2-0 win over Wilmington.

Midfielder Alex Medlock played well, too, coach Bud McCarthy said.

Georgetown took advantage of a botched North Andover header to beat the Knights 2-1. Nicoline Holland raced to the loose ball and tallied the game winner 2 1/2 minutes left.

North Andover girls soccer defender Alexa Duffy made a save to preserve a 1-1 tie against Ispwich.  It came in the second half with about 20 minutes left after North Andover goalie Caitlin Enright left the net to save a shot. The ball got loose, a scramble pursued and then an Ipswich player fired a shot that Duffy was able to save.

Senior Michaela Antwerp's 30-yard blast hit off the crossbar but her freshman sister Emily was there to put in the rebound and give Andover a 1-0 win over North Andover. And a third Antwerp, Emily's twin Sarah, anchored the defense. Olivia Biles (8 saves) made a tough deflection with five minutes left to clinch the victory. For North Andover, Shannon O'Connor amd Erika Zahoruiko each played well for the Knights.
