Londonderry stuns Salem

Maeve Holland's overtime goal in the 90th minute propelled No. 6 Londonderry to a 2-1 win over No. 3 Salem, in ysterday's Division 1 quarterfinal action.  Lydia Simmons assisted on the goal, which backed the a solid goalkeeping perfromance from Kelsy Derhak (6 saves).

Goal in Final Seconds Wins Game for Salem

SALEM — Tayllar Righini, with 12 seconds left in the second overtime, scored the game winning goal that propelled Salem to a 2-1 victory over Alvirne.

 "As soon as she hit it, you could tell that it would hit the net," said coach Kendrick Whittle. "She looked excited and started screaming"

Gina Righini charged 50 yards downfield with the ball, before it was knocked away into the air. But, without panic, she headed it into the goal with 15 minutes left in the game to give Salem a 1-0 win over Manchester Central.

The past 7-8 weeks, Salem probably would have loved to spend an afternoon in Hampton. But this was business.

Cassie Chase had two goals and an assist in the 97-degree heat as the Blue Devils held off Winnacunnet 3-2. Brenna Blakslee turned in a fine effort on defense.

Rookies rock

Freshmen Emily Hickey and Brenna Blakslee played well in their first ever varsity starts to help Salem girls soccer win 4-1 over Dover. Hickey, a midfielder, recorded an assist. Blakslee put together a strong effort defensively.  Gina Righini, Cassie Chase and Jersey Burns all scored  for Salem (1-0).
