North Andover made its way to Winchester for yesterday's Division 2 first round game agains the Sachems, but the contest never took place.The game was moved to Monday (5 p.m. at Winchester) due to a Winchester town event.

North Andover was fast out of the blocks, and had enough to hang on.

The No. 9 Scarlet Knights flew out to a seven-goal lead in the first half, and finished off a 9-4 victory over No. 24 Sandwich in the preliminary round of the Division 2 East tourney.

Brien O'Connor turned in 18 saves as North Andover handed Marblehead its fourth loss of the season, 10-6. Alex Blane talled four goals for the Scarlet Knight (12-5).

Shaking off a back-breaking goal from Masconomet with one second left in regulation to tie the game, long-pole midfielder John Boyle took a loose ball 40 yards in overtime and slammed it in the back of the net to earn North Andover a pulse-pounding 5-4 victory. "This may have been his second goal of the season," Knights head coach Steve Connolly said, "but this was the biggest goal he'll ever have."

Despite wire-to-wire hustle from seniors Colin Foley (three goals and an assist) and Zac Iovanella (one goal), North Andover dropped a 15-7 verdict to a strong Beverly squad.
