Pelham boys tennis loses championship heartbreaker

Seven weeks ago, Pelham boys tennis was 1-2 and coming off a 9-0 shellacking to Bedford.

But the Pythons turned it around big-time and nearly won the Class I championship. Against that same Bedford squad which had humiliated them in mid-April, the Pythons put up a game fight before falling 5-4 in the title match.

Pelham boys tennis advanced to the finals for the first time in program history and to do it the Pythons slayed Hanover, which had won the last two Class I titles and 6 of the last 7.

Pythons strike again

Facing precious few challenges, Pelham easily dispatched of Windham, 9-0. In three pro sets, Matt Smith and Jared Taylor won 24 of 28 combined singles and doubles games for the Pythons. George Pidvysotski turned in a strong effort for the Jaguars at fourth singles.
