Minaya heroics not enough

Raudy Minaya had another brilliant game with 32 points (15 of 17 from the line) and 11 rebounds but Methuen fell to Chelmsford, 56-53. Methuen couldn't get a game-tying 3-pointer to fall with 11 seconds left.

Minaya on fire.

Raudy Minaya scored 29 points, marking the sixth straight game that he has scored 26 or more points.  The 6-1 junior forward helped Methuen to a 78-55 win and he did so by hitting 12 shots from the field - including three 3-pointers.  Mike Gorman and James Staples also had three 3-pointers each.

Methuen hangs on for win

Methuen held on for a 56-54 victory against Greater Lawrence, which stormed back after being down by 12 points entering the fourth quarter. Donald Celestin poured in 15 in the fourth to help the the Reggies tie the game. But Methuen's Cal Carroll hit two free throws to give his team the lead. Greater Lawrence took one final shot but it fell no good.

Minaya's money for Methuen

Raudy Minaya capped an amazing 22-4 game-ending run by hitting a shot with three seconds left to deliver Methuen a 44-42 victory over Chelmsford. Behind Minaya's 26 points, the Rangers fought back after trailing by as many as 16 points (38-22) in the third quarter to prevail.

Hillies end skid


Haverhill High picked up a much-needed win, halting a three-game losing skid with a 78-66 victory over Methuen. "We're playing a lot better right not, not just a couple guys either," said Hillie coach Mike Trovato. "A lot of different people played great today." Dante Perella delivered his best game as a Hillie, dropping in 22 points with five 3-pointers. Dennis Driftmeyer chipped in 15, while freshman Noah Vonleh kicked in 14 points and eight assists. Ranger James Staples led all scorers with a career-high 28. Five days after torching the Hillies for 37, Raudy Minaya tossed in 26 points yesterday.

Minaya unstoppable

Capping a career-high 37-point night, junior Raudy Minaya drilled a pull-up jumper off an inbounds play with 8/10ths of a second left to earn Methuen a 65-63 victory over Haverhill. With help from Michael Gorman's 10 assists, Minaya went 16 for 24 from the floor to easily set a new personal standard. Freshman Noah Vonleh was a bulldog for the Hillies, finishing with 21 points.

Junior Raudy Minaya lit up Tewksbury for 15 points, 11 rebounds and 8 steals in Methuen's 67-44 victory. Sophomore Kyle Mansour had a game-high 20 points and 11 boards while junior Michael Gorman effectively set the table for the Rangers with 10 assists.

Busting open a 27-27 halftime tie, Methuen's defense did the trick in a 53-41 victory over Billerica. Michael Gorman had 8 assists to go along with 13 points while Raudy Minaya, Jason Doyle and Cal Carroll pulled down 8 rebounds apiece.

Just takin' what Methuen gave 'em

Against Methuen's zone defense, Andover found outside shooting quite acceptable, hitting 43 percent of its 3-point attempts (12 of 28) in a 60-35 victory. All of D.J. Fazio's hoops came from beyond the arc in a 12-point effort as eight different Golden Warrior players hit 3s. Raudy Minaya led the Rangers with 13 points.
