Methuen ends losing streak

Methuen golf earned its first victory, beating Dracut after starting this fall off with 11 straight losses. "It's been real frustrating because we've been really close all year," said Methuen coach Jeff Osgood who added that his team had a tough road schedule to start the season but that he's more optimistic about some upcoming tournaments at home.   Jake Hulme and and John Newell each shot two-over-par 38s at the Merrimack Valley Golf Club.

Fay tames Hickory Hill

In what was termed "as good a round as I've seen in the 13 years I've been here," according to Central Catholic head coach Vin Pastore, junior Kevin Fay tore up Hickory Hill CC for a 4-under par 32, leading the Raiders to a 16-4 victory over host Dracut.

Haverhill's top two players were triumphant but it wasn't enough as Dracut prevailed, 12-8. Craig Feeley (medalist with a 36) and Jim Murphy (39) each won by identical 3 and 2 scores for the Hillies (0-2).

Eagle lands for Leavitt

Joe Leavitt had a rare eagle on the par-5 6th hole at the Atkinson Country Club, highlighting Central Catholic's 20-0 victory over Dracut. Leavitt shot a one-under 35, getting ample support from teammates Dylan Ryan and Nick Torey, who both had one-over 37's.
