MANCHESTER, N.H. — Londonderry made it clear from the start; the Lancers were simply a team of destiny.

After falling in last year’s state final, the Lancers scored redemption, capturing the first state title in program history with a 9-6 win over rival Pinkerton in the Division 1 championship.

Londonderry goes Green

Kayla Green racked up a game-high eight points (4 goals, 4 assists) as Londonderry dismantled Salem, 21-0, in the Division 1 quarterfinals. Marcie Marino was close behind with six points (3 goals, 3 assists), and Dana Boyle also chipped in four goals for the Lancers. Libby Curran and Crystalle Parent combined for five saves to keep the Blue Devils off the board.

Top spot locked up

The Londonderry girls lacrosse team secured the first seed in Division 1 with yesterday's huge 15-4 victory over Souhegan. Marcie Marino had five goals, Dana Boyle chipped in four tallies, and Kayla Green dished out five helpers (and two goals) to help lead the Lancers to victory.

Londonderry crushes Salem

Londonderry erupted for 11 first-half goals and crusied by Salem 17-2. Kayla Green had six goals and two assists for the Lancers and Jenny Thompson netted a hat trick to go with an assist. With the win Londonderry improves to 14-0 in class.

Defense does the job

Londonderry held Pinkerton to just a pair of goals in yesterday's 8-2 victory. Kayla Green, Marcie Marino and Dana Boyle all recorded a pair of tallies. Said coach Bob Slater, "To hold a team like Pinkerton to two goals, it says a lot for the defensive side of our game."

Londonderry's girls lacrosse team successfully fought off its typical Monday malaise in a 15-4 win over Concord. Kayla Green (five goals), Dana Boyle (four goals), Marcie Marino (two goals) and Josie Berezedy (one goal) broke things open with an 11-1 second-half blitz through solid faceoff work and good transition play. Now 9-1, Londonderry is three wins into a stretch of six games in eight days.

Londonderry takes down Pinkerton in overtime

Josie Bezerdy's goal with no time left in regulation was disallowed after an error with the clock and Londonderry coach Bob Slater took exception. "We played the overtime under protest." Lucky for Slater it didn't matter as his Lancers downed rival Pinkerton 13-12 in the extra session. Meghann Mellen scored her lone goal with 1;16 to play in the six-minute overtime. Taylor Hadcock had a huge day in goal stopping 17 shots.
