Stowell blanks Lawrence

Glenn Stowell made 33 stops to backstop Phillips Academy to a 2-0 win over Lawrence Academy in the first round of the New England Prep quarterfinals. Stowell recently committed to Wesleyan University.

NHL prospect Chris Kreider talled a hat trick and assisted on three more goals as Phillips crushed NMH 8-1. Garnett Hathaway scored twice and and two assists.

Kreider continues to roll

Area leading scorer Chris Kreider racked up goals No. 23 and 24 on the season (as well as an assist) as Phillips dominated Belmont Hill, 5-1. Brooks Dryoff had two points with a goal and an assist, and Jim Houghton and Trevor Braun rounded out the scoring with one goal apiece. Glenn Stowell had 22 saves.

With under a minute remaining in regulation, Chris Kreider's second goal of the game gave Phillips a 3-3 tie with Deerfield. Brian Safstrom scored the other Big Blue goal.

Heartbreaker for Phillips

Phillips Academy appeared to have fate on their side against Tilton when junior defenseman Bennett Carrochio scored the tying goal with just 24 seconds left in the third period but would ultimatly fall just 44 seconds into overtime. Post-grad Josh Geary scored one and assisted one and goalie Glen Stowell stopped 20 shots as Phillips fell to 8-2-1. Former Andover Golden Warrier Nick Drew had 23 saves for Tilton.

Yoon shuts out Pingree

Chris Kreider (two goals, one assist), Nick Craven (two assists) and Mike Lozzi (two assists) led Phillips Academy to a 4-0 victory over Pingree and helped the Big Blue remain undefeated at 4-0. Eric Yoon drew his first start of the season in net, stopping all 16 shots he faced for the shutout. The Big Blue had a total of eight players record points in the game.

Phillips remains undefeated

Phillips Academy crushed Pomfret, 4-1, to remain undefeated yesterday.

The Big Blue boasted four different goal scorers, including Nick Craven, Brian Sasstrom, Michael Lozzi and Chris Kreider. Craven also registered an assist en route to a two-point night. Netminder Glenn Stowell narrowly missed earning his first shutout of the season, allowing a goal in the third frame.

The Phillips Academy hockey team continued their strong start to the season. After netting six goals against Holderness last week, the Big Blue improved to 2-0 with a 5-3 win over Lawrence Academy.
