Dramatic first win for Brooks

NORTH ANDOVER — Brooks scored the final 20 points of the game in the fourth quarter to pull out a dramatic 33-28 win over Tabor Saturday afternoon. 
Michael Wolfendale of Methuen had a TD pass to Nomar Tejada then scored on runs of 1 and 9 yards to rally the Green and White in the fourth quarter of the season finale.
Tejada caught five passes for 95 yards and had a team-high eight tackles. Rayden Waweru added seven tackles and an interception. Andrew Agosti (3.5 sacks) and Jeremy Ernch (2.5 sacks) were immense.
It was a memorable sendoff for the seniors, who got their first win of the fall and a week after Brooks forfeited to Lawrence Academy "due to injury and illness."
An elated coach Patrick Foley said, "I am so happy for our entire team and particularly for our seniors. We talked all week about giving everything we had for them and sending them out with a win. Every guy on our team did that. I am super proud of them."

Brooks forfeits to Lawrence Academy

Brooks fell to 0-7 as it forfeited it's Friday afternoon game against Lawrence Academy (now 7-1). The Boston Herald reported Brooks forfeited due to "injury and illness."

Middlesex School, Brooks

 

NORTH ANDOVER — Quarterback Michael Wolfendale had another big day through the air but it wasn't enough for Brooks to crack the winning column Saturday. 

Wolfendale completed 17 of 29 passes for three touchdowns and 270 yards, but Brooks couldn't stop Middlesex on defense and fell, 31-20. Five different receivers got in the action for Brooks, led by Jackson Connors-McCarthy with four catches for 119 yards and Gabe Fitzgerald eith six receptions for 169 yards.

Rivers, Brooks

 

WESTON —  Arthur Nwobi rushed for 115 yards and scored on a 34-yard run, but that was Brooks' only score and it came in the fourth quarter.

As a result, Brooks remained winless (0-4) on the year, falling at Rivers (2-2), 28-6.

Wolfendale throws for 420 yards, but Brooks falls

NEWBURY — Methuen's Michael Wolfendale threw for a career-high 420 yards, which is believed to be a school record, but Brooks fell to Governor's Academy 49-27 on Saturday.

Wolfendale completed 28-of-45 passes in his career day. He threw two touchdowns, a 30-yard score to Gabe Fitzgerald in the second quarter and a 32-yard TD to Jackson Connors-McCarthy in the fourth. The quarterback also ran for a 5-yard touchdown in the second.

Three Brooks receivers went over 100 yards receiving — Rayden Waweru (122 yards), Conners-McCarthy (123 yards) and Gabe Fitzgerald (124 yards). 

Brooks (0-3) will look to earn its first win next Saturday at Rivers (6 p.m.)

Brooks falls to 0-2

 

GROTON — Brooks played well defensively but couldn't muster enough offense Saturday and dropped to 0-2 with a 22-7 loss at Groton.

Trailing 15-0 early in the fourth quarter, Brooks moved to within one score when Jackson Conners-McCarthy completed an 81-yard pass play from Michael Wolfendale. But Groton scored again to put the game out of reach.

Brooks falls to powerful Milton

 

NORTH ANDOVER — Milton Academy scored twice in the first quarter and Brooks never recoverd, falling 42-14. in the season opener for the Green and White.

Brooks scored twice in the second half thanks largely to the passing of Max Wolfendale. He completed 14 of 27 on the day for 236 yards  Nd connected on a 77-yard pass play to Jackson Conners-McCarthy,who had a great day receiving with nine catches for 177 yards.
