The North Andover boys hockey team won the Hillie Christmas Classic tournament with a 4-1 win over Exeter (N.H.). Goalie Patrick Green was named tourney MVP after his 20-save performance in the finals.

Green with envy

Cole Fagan, Sean Corliss and Tim Berube scored as North Andover trimmed Wilmington, 3-2, in the Haverhill Christmas Tourney. Patrick Green turned aside 18 shots and had his "A" game late in the third. In Saturday's title game (7 p.m.), the Knights will play the winner of Thursdayt's late game Newton North vs. Exeter.

Hat trick for Fagan

Junior Cole Fagan recorded his first career varsity hat trick, scoring three goals and leading North Andover to a 5-2 victory over Tewksbury in the Scarlet Knights' annual Matt Harty Scholarship Fund Game. Andrew Perry added a pair of goals for the winners, while Patrick Green made 26 saves.

Mito-Action Game

North Andover hockey is benefitting "Mito-Action" mitochondrial reseach during Sunday's game vs. Tewksbury at Merrimack College (7:30 p.m.). The cause is dear to the Knights as North Andover standout Michael Harty's brother, Matthew, died 6 years ago from the deease. Money will be raised that night through raffles, "chuck a puck," and part of the gate proceeds.

Knights comfortable with 4

There was nothing weird about the North Andover boys hockey team beating Andover, 6-3, to start its season, but the Knights skated to victory thanks to three shorthanded goals. Jimmy Boyle scored twice for the winners.
