HUDSON — It serves as another step up the ladder for the Central Catholic volleyball program, but that doesn’t stop the pain.

The Raiders were swept by Medfield, 25-18, 25-18, 25-14 in the Division 2 State final yesterday afternoon, marking the only blemish on an otherwise flawless campaign.

LAWRENCE — Bring on Melrose. Again.

With a complete team effort that showed the strength of its depth, the Central Catholic girls volleyball team (20-0) advanced back to the Division 2 North Finals with a win over North Andover (15-7). Central, the defending North Finals champion, jumped out early and never once trailed as it won in straight games 25-15, 25-8, 25-16.

Central Catholic downed Bedford yesterday 25-11, 25-16, 25-15 in the Division 2 North quarterfinals. Carolyn Eddy had 16 service points, 13 assists and 2 aces, Katie Zenevitch had six kills and three blocks, and Carla Borrelli had 12 digs.

Historic season for Raiders

The Central Catholic girls volleyball team completed a historic 18-0 season tonight - the first undefeated season in school history - with a 25-20, 25-13, 25-16 victory over Billerica. The MVC Large champs got big contributions from a number of players, including Katie Zenevitch (seven kills), Maggie Hillman (seven kills), Carolyn Eddy (21 assists), Katie Quinlan (14 service points), Carla Borrelli (18 digs, four aces) and Lindsay Phenix (two blocks).

High Marks for Central Catholic

Katie Zenevitch registered a season-best 12 kills and chipped in with a pair of blocks to pace Central Catholic over Chelmsford in a sweep.

Approaching perfection

 

Central Catholic's girls volleyball team improved to 15-0 with a sweep of Andover. Katie Zenevich had 10 kills and Molly Sullivan scored 22 points serving. For Andover, which gave the Raiders a good battle the second two games, Kirsten Arvidson had 13 kills and Rebecca Johnson shined defnsively.

Performance of the day

Carolyn Eddy scored 20 service points and added 28 assists, both team highs, as Central Catholic downed rival Methuen 25-17, 27-25, 25-17 in a battle for two of the top teams in the MVC. Maggie Hillman added team highs in kills (10) and digs (21) for the Raiders (12-0-1). The Rangers fell 10-2.
