Dean to the rescue (again)

For the second time in one week, freshman Charlie Dean scored the winning goal in overtime to lead North Andover boys lacrosse to a win, this time a second-overtime strike to beat Chelmsford, 9-8, and send the Knights to the Division 1 North quarterfinals. Dean had two goals, while Jack Chace led the way with five for North Andover, which will travel to Acton-Boxboro on Thursday at 4.

Central wins MVC

With a 9-1 victory over Chelmsford, the Central Catholic boys lacrosse team clinched the Merrimack Valley Conference title, having gone 11-1 in league play. Connor Finneran scored three goals and David Olsen made 20 saves in the win.

Shutting down No. 1

Ryan Slattery drew the tough assigment of covering Chelsmford's top scorer, Christian Gastongway, but he was more than up to the task. Slattery shut him out, holding him scoreless as North Andover lacrosse earned a 6-4 win. Matt Niejadlik scored three goals for the Knights (9-6), who qualified for the state tournament.

Central surges late

Central Catholic boys lacrosse outscored Chelmsford, 6-3, in the second half to earn an 8-7 victory. Shane McInnis led the way in attack with three goals, while David Olsen kept the Raiders in the game with 17 saves in the cage.
