Haverhill trailed by three in the wanning seconds before a foul put it on the free throw line. The Hillies sunk the first to make it a two-point game and tried to miss the second intentionally to get a tip-in rebound, but the attempt missed the rim for a violation and No. 4 Boston Latin closed out the 46-44 win. Daejon Pendelton-Mills and D.J. Cunningham each had 10 points for the Hillies, who finish the season 11-11.

HAVERHILL – Having already clinched its first postseason berth in six years, Haverhill decided at halftime of its regular-season finale it would be best to enter the regional with a winning record.

Haverhill led 34-30 at the half but St. John's rallied for a 61-52 win. Sophomore Jeremyah Phillips had 14 and freshman Brandon Donald 12 for the Hillies.

Havehill boys basketball qualified for the state tournament with a comfortable 65-46 win over Chelmsford on Senior Night. Jeremiah Phillips had 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Phillip Cunningham also added 12 points as the Hillies won the MVC Small as well.

Angel Burgos came off the bench with three minutes left and Haverhill trailing by 10 and sank three of his four 3-pointers to rally Haverhill to a 59-57 victory over Billerica. It was the Hillies' fourth straight win.

Haverhill's boys basketball team improved their playoff hopes with a 59-53 victory over Tewksbury. Brandon Donald led the Hillies (8-8) with 17 points and Jeremyah Phillips had 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Daejon Pendelton-Mills was everywhere with 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Haverhill got the final stop it needed to clinch a 57-54 win over Dracut.

Jake McElroy drilled six 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 22 points as North Andover drubbed Haverhill 71-37.

Daejon Pendelton-Mills hit for 16 points, Zack Guertin added 12 and Phillips Cunningham contributed nine as Haverhill downed Billerica 61-54 to remain in the thick of the MVC Division 2 hunt.

Haverhill's boys, who struggled in the first half three days earlier, had 36 points at halftime on its way to a 62-40 win over Tewksbury. Brendan Donald led a balanced performance with 12 points and 8 rebounds.
