Alvirne stuns Timberlane, 26-13

PLAISTOW, N.H. — Instead of flying into the Division 2 playoffs, Timberlane laid an egg last night.

Owls crush Spaulding

ROCHESTER, N.H. — Derek Furey scored three times and Erik Hatton was good on 80-percent of his passes (8 for 10) as Timberlane cruised past winless Spaulding, 37-7.

Furey rushed for 107 yards and he scored on rushes of 1, 54 and 22 yards.

Furey, Owls charge back in wild win

HAMPTON, N.H. — Timberlane junior Derek Furey was not about to be outplayed last night.

 

As he watched on the sideline while Winnacunnet star receiver Harry Knowles scored his fourth touchdown of the night, returning a kickoff 84 yards to tie the score 27-27 with 4:51 left to play, he knew what he had to do.

Owls shock defending champions

PLAISTOW, N.H. — To call Timberlane’s victory over Exeter an upset would be an understatement.

After all, this is the Exeter team that crushed the Owls 28-0 last year and went on to win the Division 2 title. This is the Exeter team that entered yesterday’s game 6-0 overall (5-0 in D2). This is the Exeter team that, along with fellow powerhouse Bishop Guertin, was widely considered to be one the top two teams in the division.

SALEM, N.H. — There’s more to Timberlane than Derek Furey. A lot more.

As usual, the bruising junior running back broke the century mark on the ground, gaining 117 yards against Salem yesterday while getting 2/3s of the Owls’ carries. But he was just a piece of the puzzle as his teammates stepped up with everything from a disruptive defensive effort to a stellar passing afternoon from Erik Hatton. Put it all together and it added up to a humbling 28-14 non-league setback for the suddenly reeling Blue Devils.

Furey, Hatton lead Timberlane

MERRIMACK, N.H. — Derek Furey felt subpar entering Timberlane’s game against Merrimack, but the Tomahawks never would have known it.

“Before the game, the groin tightened up on me,” explained Furey. “I’d gone to a doctor and got worked on before the game, but he couldn’t do much. I was feeling it pretty much the whole time.”
