As usual, the bruising junior running back broke the century mark on the ground, gaining 117 yards against Salem yesterday while getting 2/3s of the Owls’ carries. But he was just a piece of the puzzle as his teammates stepped up with everything from a disruptive defensive effort to a stellar passing afternoon from Erik Hatton. Put it all together and it added up to a humbling 28-14 non-league setback for the suddenly reeling Blue Devils.

“Before the game, the groin tightened up on me,” explained Furey. “I’d gone to a doctor and got worked on before the game, but he couldn’t do much. I was feeling it pretty much the whole time.”
