Sachems hold on

Down by as much as 15 in the first quarter, the Pentucket girls basketball team crawled back to take a halftime lead over rival Amesbury before holding on for a 50-48 win. The Sachems (14-1) got 17 points from Angelina Yacubacci and 11 from Arielle Cleveland. Amesbury (12-2) had won 11 straight games.

Napoli gets going

Amesbury's Alli Napoli scored a season-high 17 points as the Indians routed Ipswich 65-30 on Friday. Flannery O'Connor scored 15 points and freshman Avery Hallinan added 12 as Amesbury improved to 5-1 on the season.

Comeback falls short

The Amesbury girls basketball team trailed by 12 points late and nearly came all the way back, but North Reading held on to hand the Indians a 43-41 loss. Flannery O'Connor led the Indians with 12 points and freshman Avery Hallinan added 11 points on a 3-pointer and eight free throws.
